Cragg House Farm Holiday Cottage

Cragg House Farm Holiday Cottage is a perfect, dog-friendly, base for outdoor activities such as walking, fishing and climbing or more leisurely nature watching, sight-seeing or just relaxing. The living area of the holiday cottage (comprising double bedroom, lounge/dining room, kitchen and bathroom) is situated as a self-contained apartment in the west wing, on the first floor of the farm house. This gives fantastic views over the garden to Whiteless Pike from the bedroom and lounge/ dining room. Although fully self contained, the apartment is accessed by the main staircase, shared with your hosts, Alister and Rach.

The cottage is well equipped in all areas and the rent includes all heating, electricity, linen and towels. Free off road parking for one car is also available.

The cottage is non-smoking and we welcome well-behaved pets.

We do have exterior kennels available should you wish to leave your dog for a few hours or would like to bring working dogs on holiday with you.

Buttermere can be accessed via Newlands Pass from Keswick or via Lorton on the B5289.

Traveling from Newlands Pass: Turn right at the bottom of the pass and you will cross over a bridge with the Bridge Inn on your left. You will find Cragg House Farm (signposted) on your left, 200m up the hill from the bridge.

Travelling from Lorton: Follow the B5289 from Lorton. Look out for a left turn, signposted Buttermere. Follow this narrow road and eventually Crummock Water will come into view. Continue to follow the road for approximately 4km then keep a look out for the National Trust car park on your right. Once you pass the car park, we are the next turn on your right.

Signal:

The valley has poor signal so please ensure you save any important information prior to your arrival. Secure signal can be found down the round at the Bridge Inn or Croft House Cafe or can be picked up on the hills (e.g Rannderdale Knotts). We are looking at options to establish wifi in the barn.

Our Livestock:

We have a variety of livestock on the farm such as Herdwick sheep, Kerry Hill sheep, Bagot goats and Oxford Sandy and Black piglets. Please let us know if you would like to meet any of them.

Eating Out:

250m down the road in the centre of the village you can find two pubs (the Bridge Inn and Buttermere Court Hotel) and a daytime cafe (Croft House Farm Cafe) - all dog friendly.
